Taking Exams
Exams only exist as part of some courses that were registered with us by your training centre before 1st September 2024. The following information only applies to such courses. Please consult your training centre if you're unsure whether your course contains an exam.
When do I take my exam?
Exam dates - known as external assessment (EA) dates - can be found on our external assessment dates page. Your tutor will be able to tell you exactly when you will be taking your exam.
Please check with your training centre to confirm when you will sit your exam.
When will I get my results?
Exam results for our qualifications that have an external assessment are released to training centres at certain dates throughout the academic year. Please refer to our external assessment dates for details and check with your tutor for the exact dates and details of your exam and results.
We can't give you your exam result. We will let your tutor know your result in the week shown on our external assessment dates page. You can see when this will be from the date that you took your exam. After this time your tutor will contact you and let you know your result.
Can I resit my exam?
You can resit your exam up to two times if needed. This has to be supported by your tutor. Your tutor will be able to tell you the cost to resit.
What if I'm not happy with my result?
Speak to your tutor, who can advise you about the appeals process and cost, but there is a time limit. Appeals must be made to CPCAB by the tutor or centre and not by you. More information can be found in our appeals policy.
